
On Friday, January 9, the U.S. Embassy handed over four boats to the Mauritanian National Gendarmerie. Ambassador Larry André and Deputy Chief of Staff for the National Gendarmerie, General Abdellahi Ahmed Aicha spoke at the small ceremony at the U.S. Embassy. The boats are a part of a larger training and support effort sponsored by the Embassy to assist with law enforcement and efforts to counter extremism along Mauritanian Maritime borders. The boats and the training of 12 Gendarme were a part of the Diplomatic Security’s Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) program.
