His Excellency Mr. Ryan Grizzle, Deputy Chief of Mission ad interim of the US Embassy Nouakchott and Dr. Toumbo Mbaye, the Director of Nouakchott English Center, presided over this morning at the Teachers’ College of Nouakchott (ENS), the graduation ceremony of the seventh English Access Program.
This major program initiated by our embassy has enabled this year 120 students of 13 to 18 years old, from different secondary schools in Nouakchott and Rosso, to take English courses at the Nouakchott English Center (NEC) for two school years, in parallel with their regular studies, to help them improve their level in English.
The US Embassy Nouakchott has covered all the expenses, including tuition, transportation, school supplies, and educative activities for two years. This represents a total funding of 120,000 dollars.

Since 2007, 820 students have benefitted from the English Access Program, and the Embassy works collaboratively with the Ministry of Education to recruit participants in this program.
It is also important to note that the best students of each Access Program will be selected to spend 3 weeks in the USA under the Pan Africa Youth Leadership Program.
