As part of its program to assist civil society in its efforts for the promotion and protection of civil and political rights in Mauritania, the Embassy of the United States of America has contributed $ 35,000 dollars (about 10.5 million UM) to the following NGOs:
- The Organization for a Green and Democratic Mauritania
This project consists of radio broadcasting of ten programs entitled “Time for the Construction of a True Democracy.” The purpose of this program is to improve democratic culture within civil society in Mauritania. This radio program will be broadcast twice a month for five months in Arabic and French in Nouakchott, Nouadhibou and Kiffa and will be open to individuals wishing to participate directly by phone. - Cultural Space
This project aims to promote the education of girls in trouble. The association will work with schools, parents, and girls via training activities aimed at promoting the rights of girls. Activities will focus on education and marital law. A learning center with computers and Internet connections will be available to young girls interested in such activities. - DEV
This funding will implement a program of education and training in the prevention of inter-community conflicts in the provinces of Mbagne and Bababe in the Brakna region. Religious leaders, administrative authorities, and youth will be actively involved in these activities.
